People don’t realise the emotional and psychological pain that people experience when there is damage to their teeth or have unsightly teeth.
Maybe this is something that you are sensitive about and if that’s true then you are not alone. The good news is that many people have gone from having teeth that makes them weep to pearly whites that they can’t stop showing to the world.
Are you self-conscious about your appearance? You can get confidence with whitening; porcelain or composite veneers. For your missing teeth, there are dentures and bridges.
Tooth "whitening" is defined as any process that will make teeth appear whiter. There are two ways this is commonly done: bleaching and non-bleaching products and it is usually for people with stained or yellow teeth.
What is the difference between porcelain veneers and composite? Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain adhered to the outer-surface of the tooth. Composite veneers are engineered resin affixed to the outer-surface. Both are made to match your teeth (or whiten).
Porcelain veneers are great for those that would like a more permanent solution, as they last longer and are generally more durable and stain-resistant. Porcelain can also look more natural than composite. As porcelain is usually easier on the gumline, we would recommend older patients to opt for this treatment.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. You can get a complete denture for the top part of your mouth or bottom. Alternatively, there are also partial dentures available.
For missing teeth there are also bridges. No, we don’t mean the ones you cross with your car or by foot. We are talking about dental bridges. If you have one or more missing teeth, a dental bridge can fill the gap with one or more artificial (false) teeth. A bridge is typically made of crowns on either side of the missing tooth or teeth supporting the pontic (false tooth) and is cemented in place.
